Car-free Zermatt can be reached by train or taxi. Trains runs direct into car-free Zermatt; Zermatt can be reached in three-and-a-half hours from Zurich Airport and four hours from Geneva or Basel airports. It is also possible to get there by Glacier Express.

Trains run to Zermatt every half hour. The train journey from Swiss airports and the border is easy and convenient.

The Täsch-Zermatt road is closed to public transport. Täsch is the terminus for car drivers. The Matterhorn Terminal in Täsch provides 2,100 covered parking spaces. More than 1,000 spaces are also available from private providers, such as taxi firms and hotels. In Täsch you have to transfer to the train or a taxi that is licensed to use the road from Täsch to Zermatt. You can expect to pay large fines if you travel to Zermatt without authorisation.
